ROSEMONT, IL – September 7, 2022. Reyes Beverage Group (RBG) has entered into an agreement to acquire substantially all the assets of DET Distributing in the state of Tennessee. The transaction is scheduled to close in November 2022.
“Adding Tennessee as our 10th market is really meaningful to us,” said Tom Day, Chief Executive Officer for Reyes Beverage Group. “This business is all about people and relationships, something the DET and Reyes families and teams take to heart. We are excited to expand our partnerships with our current suppliers, build new ones and continue the great work and customer service the DET team has built with their retailers all these years.”
“As we’ve worked with and come to know the DET team, we’ve seen countless examples of our shared culture and values,” said Stephen Reyes, President of Reyes Beverage Group East. “We’re looking forward to continuing their legacy and tapping into the expertise of their great team throughout this transition.”
DET Distributing was founded in 1951 by E.E. Dettwiller and purchased by his son, Fred Dettwiller, in 1973. Fred served as CEO of the Nashville-based company until his passing in October 2021.
We are excited to work with RBG to continue to grow the business and ensure our customers and communities succeed.

“My father was committed to building DET into a successful organization that would thrive long into the future,” said A.K. Dettwiller, President, DET Distributing Company. “He charted the company’s course that we continue to seek to maintain today; one that focuses on quality, family, integrity, and service. We are confident he would share in our conviction that Reyes Beverage Group is the ideal partner to lead DET into our next chapter and ensure we continue to provide exceptional products and service to our customers throughout Tennessee.”
“DET has evolved into one of Tennessee’s largest family-owned beverage distributors through business strategy and enduring customer relationships,” said George Dettwiller, General Manager at DET’s Jackson facility. “It was important to us that we maintain our identity through this next transition.”
“While we considered multiple potential partners, RBG’s similar philosophy, values, and goals, together with its legacy of success, made it an ideal fit,” said John Curley, Chief Operating Officer, DET Distributing Company. “We are excited to work with RBG to continue to grow the business and ensure our customers and communities succeed.”
The acquisition adds over 5,000 customers and approximately 9 million cases to RBG’s overall operations, and includes brands from key suppliers such as Molson Coors, Constellation, Boston Beer, Mark Anthony, Diageo, HUSA, Pabst, Sweetwater, Lagunitas, and Gambrinus.
RBG will operate the DET business as DET Beverages, L.L.C. and will maintain the distribution facilities in Nashville and Jackson, Tennessee.
